SPECIAL REPORT: Benchmarking award program recognizes feed industry leaders

THE American Feed Industry Assn. (AFIA), along with Feedstuffs, is excited to announce the 2016 Feed Facility of the Year (FFY) award winners.

The top category winners for 2016 are:

* Premix Manufacturing Facility — Trouw Nutrition USA in Neosho, Mo., managed by Doug Vanjoff.

* Liquid Feed Facility — Westway Feed Products in Dimmitt, Texas, managed by Phil Thomas.

* Commercial Dry Livestock Feed Facility — Tennessee Farmers Co-op in LaVergne, Tenn., managed by Bobby Brown.

Each of these operations is detailed in the links that follow.

The overall 2016 FFY winner will be announced on Feb. 1 during AFIA's Feed Education Program at the 2017 International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta, Ga.

The new FFY awards program is an improved and expanded version of the former Feed Mill of the Year award program. The program is the creation of AFIA Production Committee.

“Many AFIA members want to know how their operations — whether they are liquid feed facilities, pet food facilities, integrators, etc. — compare to others in the business. This program gives that unique opportunity,” said Gary Huddleston, manager, feed manufacturing safety and environmental affairs, at AFIA.

Expanding on what was done in the past, the new FFY program gives participating companies access to important, anonymous benchmarking information and the chance for public industry recognition — all through one application.

The program recognizes overall excellence in feed manufacturing operations, emphasizing safety, quality, regulatory compliance, operating efficiencies and overall industry awards, Huddleston said.

AFIA and Feedstuffs congratulate all of the 2016 winners and semi-finalists.
