Pharmgate Animal Health rebrands, welcomes new leadership

Pharmgate Animal Health has launched a new website in tandem with updated corporate branding to reflect the company’s mission to be an "innovative" partner for producers, veterinarians and nutritionists.

The company’s new website (pharmgate.com) emphasizes Pharmgate’s commitment to partnering with farmers, veterinarians and thought leaders to ensure high levels of animal wellness while solving problems with industry-leading products and service solutions.

Founded in 2008, Pharmgate's product lines include medicated feed additives, water-soluble medications and swine vaccines. Globally, it is a leader in the manufacture of tetracyclines for food animal production. Pharmgate acquired Pennfield Animal Health as well as the chlortetracycline products of Archer Daniels Midland Co. in 2014, and further expanded in 2016 with the acquisition of biologics maker ProtaTek.

The new Pharmgate website includes tools that help veterinarians streamline optimizing and writing veterinary feed directives (VFD) for producers.

Specific tools include a water-soluble medication calculator, where a user can select a Pharmgate product, enter a farm’s information and determine how many packets of medication needed daily to treat pigs.

The site also features a searchable database to see which Pharmgate products are approved for each livestock species and disease indication. Editable VFD and prescription forms are included to provide veterinarians useful online information tools to help their clients.

“Since we started Pharmgate in 2008, we’ve worked hard to stay focused on the ideals of responsible use of medications, animal well-being and product quality, while remaining approachable as a partner,” said Colin Gray, chief executive officer of Pharmgate Animal Health. “These ideals and vision are brought to life with our new website and the many tools housed within it.”

In addition, Pharmgate Animal Health’s brand refresh, done in tandem with the website launch, brings forward a more modern look and feel that aligns with the organization’s parent company, the announcement said.

Highlighted by its tricolor blue shield, the new Pharmgate Animal Health logo represents the high-quality disease prevention and protection that Pharmgate provides its customers, the company said.

“Over the last 10 years, Pharmgate Animal Health has evolved as a company and our new branding, and especially our new website, does a great job of telling that story,” said Mitch Johnson, head of marketing for Pharmgate Animal Health. “We’re about building relationships, and with the new website and the new corporate branding, our presence displays the kind of approachability and quality that producers, veterinarians and nutritionists can expect when they work with Pharmgate Animal Health.”

The company’s product range can be used to treat swine, cattle, poultry and sheep in a variety of applications.

Leadership team

Pharmgate Animal Health recently welcomed two new members to the company’s leadership team. Randy Buller joined Pharmgate Animal Health as vice president of global sales, marketing and technical service, and Dr. Charles Francisco has been appointed as the company’s director of veterinary technical services.

Buller brings more than 35 years of sales, marketing and management experience to the company. Prior to Pharmgate, he served as the president and CEO of Paragon Animal Health LLC since 2017, and previously had spent time in leadership positions at Merial Ltd. and Newport Laboratories, as well as Boehringer Ingelheim, Eli Lilly & Co. and Elanco.

Francisco will be responsible for leading Pharmgate’s technical service team, specializing in both pharmaceuticals and biologicals, including porcine circovirus and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.

Prior to his role with Pharmgate Animal Health, Francisco was the director of technical service for United Animal Health. He also worked at Merck Animal Health as director of swine veterinary technical services after serving as a technical service veterinarian for Intervet Schering-Plough and Hoechst Roussel Agri Vet.

Also joining the Pharmgate Technical Services team was Dr. Fabian Chamba as research scientist/clinical development. Chamba has spent nearly three years as a research assistant at the University of Minnesota pursuing his doctorate while specializing in influenza epidemiology in pigs, including the transmission of swine flux to piglets.

Pharmgate said it is well-positioned to continue growing its range of products through new innovation and ongoing research that solves practical challenges facing producers and veterinarians in the U.S. and around the world.

“Our goal at Pharmgate is to be a partner to our customers, both through great products and premium service and support,” Gray said. “Randy, Charles and Fabian’s experience will help us to continue fulfilling that mission and I’m thrilled for the work they are going to do with the excellent team we currently have in place.”

Pharmgate Animal Health is headquartered in Wilmington, N.C., and provides high-quality products that help the livestock industry optimize animal health, efficiency and production. The company’s pharmaceutical production facilities are located in Omaha, Neb., with vaccine research and manufacturing operations based in St. Paul, Minn.
