Organic industry asks Perdue to preserve organic livestock rule

Rule set to go into effect on May 19 unless secretary of agriculture acts ahead of that date.

In a letter to delivered Friday to newly sworn in Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, 334 certified organic beef, pork, dairy and poultry producers asked the secretary to let the rule on organic livestock and production standards go into effect in its entirety on May 19, 2017, without further delay.
