Majority of Syngenta shareholders accept ChemChina offer

Transaction nearing completion as majority of shares tendered.

The $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta by China National Chemical Corp. (ChemChina) will soon be completed, according to a May 5 joint statement by the two companies. The companies said based on preliminary numbers, around 80.7% of Syngenta’s shares have been tendered. A minimum of 67% of shares needed to be tendered by the definitive notice of interim results scheduled for May 10.
