Low-pathogenic avian flu detected in western Kentucky

Commercial poultry flock in Christian County, Ky., confirmed with H7N9 LPAI; Alabama and Tennessee flocks depopulated.

Federal and state authorities reported that a case of low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) has been detected in a commercial poultry flock in western Kentucky.

Kentucky State Veterinarian Dr. Robert C. Stout said the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Ames, Iowa, confirmed the presence of H7N9 LPAI in samples taken from the Christian County, Ky., premises.
