Kalmbach Feeds recently held the grand opening of its newest manufacturing plant. The facility, named after co-founder Ruth Elizabeth Kalmbach (REK), is located on County Road 44 between US Route 23 and State Route 199 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

“My mother was an integral part of the operation,” president Paul Kalmbach explained. “She knew this business backward and forward. She became a real businessperson through the experience, and she supported my dad every bit of the way.”

Among the hundreds of attendees were Wyandot County commissioner Steve Seitz and Ohio state representative Riordan McClain.

“Kalmbach Feeds is a cornerstone in the area providing jobs, partnerships with area farmers and investments into the community,” McClain said during his speech at the event.

Kalmbach Feeds team members hosted tours of the manufacturing facility, which stands 180 ft. tall and is made up of 4,500 yards of concrete. The three-year project was no small feat, using more than 250 contractors, subcontractors and personnel, along with more than 20 equipment suppliers.

The REK facility currently houses a 180,000 bu. corn bin, with a 650,000 bu. bin under construction. Two finish feed loadout bays with separate control rooms are also included to better serve customers and drivers.

Over the last 55 years, Kalmbach Feeds has grown into a regional leader in the animal nutrition industry, producing a full line of products for commercial livestock producers and independent dealers who serve horse owners, lifestyle animal enthusiasts, 4-H members and show competitors.
