On March 8, Church & Dwight Co. Inc., parent company of Arm & Hammer Animal & Food Production, acquired Passport Food Safety Solutions Inc., a provider of an innovative, systems approach to help meat and poultry processors consistently address food safety standards through a broad portfolio of technologies and services.
Passport Food Safety Solutions will now operate as a business entity of Arm & Hammer Animal & Food Production.
With the integration of these two entities, ARM & HAMMER now becomes a leader in providing the most comprehensive portfolio of nutritional, microbial and pre-harvest and post-harvest food safety solutions to optimize the health of production livestock while reducing the incidence of common pathogens in animal protein products, according to the announcement.
“We are very excited about this integration because it further supports our long-term plan to grow, evolve and diversify our business through industry-leading advancements in animal agricultural productivity and food safety,” said Scott Druker, general manager of Arm & Hammer Animal & Food Production.
This union is a positive development for both companies. “We are now able to offer deep expertise in food safety innovations, technologies and services to our customers,” Druker said. “For Passport Food Safety Solutions, the acquisition provides the established ARM & HAMMER brand and the considerable resources of a reputable, trusted global corporation in Church & Dwight Co. Inc.”
Tom Nicholson, chief executive officer of Passport Food Safety Solutions, said, “At Passport, we believe the acquisition is of great benefit to our company, our employees and, most importantly, our customers. Our mission has always been to develop sustainable food safety solutions that create value for our customers globally. With the additional resources now available to us through our affiliation with Arm & Hammer Animal & Food Production, Passport is in an even stronger position to achieve its mission. The acquisition also provides Passport with access to additional novel technologies and innovations for our food safety solution pipeline.”
“The combined entities will have the most comprehensive portfolio of products to meet the growing needs of agricultural producers worldwide,” Druker explained. “This is a good fit, because ARM & HAMMER and Passport Food Safety Solutions share common core values: strong relationships with customers and partners, deep commitment to employee development, dedication to research and innovation, environmental stewardship and a commitment to helping provide a safe and affordable food supply.”
Nicholson said the company is working to ensure that the transition will be as seamless as possible. Current team members will remain in place and he will continue to lead Passport. “Our products and services will continue to be available to the market, and your key contacts at Passport will remain the same. We will continue to operate from our location in West Des Moines, Iowa,” he added.
