AAFCO hires first executive director

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) announced that it has signed an agreement with MGT Co. for Susan M. Hays to serve as its first executive director.

MGT Co. is an established association management firm that will provide professional executive director services. Hays is no stranger to AAFCO as she has long attended the organization’s meetings on behalf of the Wild Bird Feeding Industry (WBFI) trade association. She will be part time for AAFCO and part time for WBFI until June 30, 2018, and then she will move to full time with AAFCO.

“We are looking forward to meeting the increasing challenges of feed safety in the 21st century with the addition of a focused and knowledgeable executive director,” said Stan Cook, administrator of the Bureau of Feed, Seed & Treated Lumber with the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Cook, who is the current president of AAFCO, noted that the AAFCO board and Hays have already begun the on-boarding process and will be working in the next few weeks on some immediate priorities to provide momentum to several projects.

FASS will remain the headquarters of AAFCO and will be responsible for all association member services, including communications, accounting, publishing, website administration, meeting planning and committee/board coordination.
