Decreased steer slaughter fueling price rally

Heifer and cow slaughter continues to rise.

A nice spring rally has kept fed cattle prices in the upper $120s for most of the last eight weeks, but Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service professor and extension economist David Anderson recently noted that while a first reaction might be to assume that the increase is due to the arrival of grilling season, supply is playing a role as well.
