Analyst: U.S. has overabundance of eggs

Price spread between cage-free and conventional eggs crashing.

The U.S. has an overabundance of eggs right now that has led to the current low prices, according to David Williams, vice president of client advisory and development for Informa Economics IEG.

“The last few years, we’ve put in a lot of operations for cage-free or other more humane operations, but we really didn’t do anything to the previous operations,” he said.
